An introduction to military, format-participative and leadership
models of management, as well as management by objectives.
Modern management techniques, middle and line management in
correctional i~stitutio~s, probatio~ and parole are emphasized.
Includes abrief ovorvlew of the history of punishment and the
evolution of correctional facilities.

Areview of the common management problems in criminal justice
agencies including conflict management, employee relations,
fiscal affairs and time management. Includes adiscussion of
the process of organizational change and development.

Prerequisite: Student employment as a reserve officer by a
recognized law enforcement agency.
Alimited police academy for reserve officers. Successful
course completion awards certification as alimited authority
police reserve.

Astudy of the 29 Codes of Federal Regulations (CFR). Section
1910.1200 and the Hazard Communications (Right-to-Know)
Regulation. The course focuses on the impacts these regulations
~ave on the ~ccupational workforce. Requirements for
Implementation and monitoring of the regulations are examined.
