PHI 140 Death, Dying, Loss and Survlval/3 Units<br />

Prerequisite: None.<br />

This class introduces students to the experience of others on the<br />

lopiCS of death, loss, and survival. It will offer new ways to think<br />

abOut death, in general, as well as one's o~n death, and those of<br />

loved ones. It will also include a metaphysical approach to the<br />

question of life after death.<br />

Prerequisite: 5NG 101 and sophomore standing. <br />

Hinduism, Buddhism, TC!oism, and Confucianism with emphasis <br />

on their roles in the modern world. <br />

PHI 202 Philosophy of Religion/3 Units<br />

Prerequisite: ENG 101 and sophomore standing. <br />

Introduction to the nature of religion, nature and existence of God <br />

and major religious tenets of western thought. <br />

PHI 299 Individual Studles/1-4 Units<br />

Prerequisite: Approval of the division chair and instructor.<br />

Completion of aresearch problem or an outlined course of study<br />

under the direction of afaculty member with contract for the<br />

individual study agreed upon by the student, the instructor and the<br />

division chair prior to initiation of the study.<br />

May be repeated for credit.<br />

Prerequisite: None.<br />

Asurvey course in the basic concepts of physics with limited<br />

emphaSis on mathematical applications.<br />

Prerequisite: MAT 110 Of equivalent: PHY 111 is aprerequisite<br />

for PHY 112.<br />

Lectures, dl,~monstration, and problems in mechanics, propertift<br />

of maHer, heat. sound, light. electricity and magnetism, atomic<br />

and nuclear physics.<br />

PHV 23()..231 tit Physics with C.lculus/4-4 Units<br />

Prerequisite: MAT 261. PHY 230 is aprerequisite for PHY 231.<br />

Coverage of the same areas as PHY 111·112 but in greater depth<br />

by the use of calculus, for engineering students and others who<br />

require physics with calculus.<br />
