An introduction to health science fundamentals and exploration of<br />
health care delivery concepts and applications presenting heatth<br />

to health careers and delivery. Required by Allied Health<br />
Programs through SARAHELP.<br />

HLT 174 Emergency Medical Technlcian/6 Unite<br />
Prerequisite: None.<br />
<strong>Cochise</strong> <strong>College</strong> Basic Emergency Medical Technology course is<br />
asix unit course that prepares the student for vocational work as<br />
an ambulance attendantldriver. The course covers the study of<br />
anatomy, physiology and the basics of legal liabilities. Skills are<br />
developed in recognizing symptoms of illness and injury and<br />
proper procedures of emergency car~. for, the sick and .injured<br />
person. Triage assessment and stabilization of the patient for<br />
transport to amedical facility are also covered. The course is also<br />
arequirement for an Associate of Arts Deg,ree in Criminal Ju~tice<br />
and Fire Science Technology. The course IS offered each spnng<br />
and fall semester throughout <strong>Cochise</strong> County. The class meets<br />
two nights aweek with an occasional weekend or two.<br />
