Further investigations into the elements and principles of design
including line, shape, value, texture, and color within atwodimensional
framework. Avariety of media and techniques will be
used and an emphasis will be placed on color and design theory.

Prerequisite: ART 106 or permission of instructor.
Drawing from the model and other subjects to develop pictorial
and perceptual skills with an emphasiS on the human figure in its
environment.

ART 265* Beginning Commercial Deslgn/3 Units
Prerequisite: ART/MED 103 or permission of instructor.
Astudy of the principles of commercial design and techniques of
advertising layout, their practical application, and the tools and
materials used in the field of advertising. Identical to MED 265.

ART 270* Ceramics 1/3 Units
Prerequisitp,: ART 103 and ART 231 or permission of instructor.
An introduction to clay. glaze and kiln processes and wheelthrown
techniques with ageneral historical survey of ceramics.

ART 275* Cerami:s 11/3 Units
Prerequisite: ART 103. ART 231, and ART 270 or permission
of instructor.
Amore advanced course than ART 270. Ceramics I. Students wi!
need to have a basic knowledge of handbuilt and wheelthrown
techniques with various clay bodies and, abasic knowledge of
glazes, their application and kiln loading and firing processes.
Because students work independently, it is recommended that
they have taken ART 270, Ceramics Iat Cochise College.

ART 280* Painting 1/3 Units
Prerequisite: ART 103 or ART 106 or permission of instructor.
Astudio course in beginning oil and/or acrylic painting techniques
with emphasis on color theory and color mixing. Preparation of
painting surfaces is also introduced.
