GER 102 Elementary German/4 Units <br />

Prerequisite: GER 101 or permission based on demonstrated <br />

competence. <br />

Continuation of grammar, conversation and comprehension with <br />

emphasis on proper pronunciation and usage. <br />

4 hours lecture; 1hour laboratory.<br />

GER 201 Intermediate German!4 Units ,<br />

Prerequisite: GER 102 or ability to pass corresponding<br />

examination.<br />

An intermediate course in speaking, writing, understanding and,<br />

reading German. Irltegration and utilization of new str,uctures, With<br />

emphasis on longer non-technical essays and analYSIS of short<br />

stories and socially pertinent texts.<br />

4 hours lecture; 1hour laboratory.<br />

GER 202 Intermediate German/4 Units<br />

Prerequisite: GER 201 or ability to pass corresponding<br />

examination.<br />

Acontinuation of GER 201, with emphasis on understanding of<br />

the usage and structure in the language and familiarity with<br />

German culture. Students will read material in such fields as art,<br />

literature and technology. Students will also write and present<br />

brief term papers.<br />

HPE 105 Coed Low Intensity Aerobic Exerclse/1 Unit<br />

Prerequisite: None.<br />

Apractical introduction to low intensity aerobic exercise with<br />

emphaSis upon the acquisition of basic skills and movements, as<br />

well as the improvement and maintenance of individual fitness.<br />

Recommended for the poorly conditioned, novice student.<br />

1hour lecture: 1hour laboratory.<br />

Prerequisite: None.<br />

Stretching and toni~g aerobic exercises conducted in a~<br />

pool, with emphasis upon cardiovascular fitness. Individual_<br />

and limitations are considered, and each student progreseesat<br />

his/her own rate. No swim skills necessary.<br />

Prerequisite: None.<br />

Apractical application of the accepted fitness priociplesand<br />

concepts conducive to the development and maintenanctofr.<br />

student to aerobic and anaerobic activities that promote<br />

cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, and muscular endurance<br />

Prerequisite: None.<br />

An activity course introducing basic skills and knowledge<br />

necessary to develop aproper weight training program and<br />

cardiovascular development.<br />
