Guaranteed Student LOins·<br />
The Guaranteed Student Loan Program is Ivailable to meet,<br />
educational expenses. Loans are made through banks, credit<br />
unions. and other financial institutions. The loans are federally<br />
insured for repayment and lenders are paid asubsidy on the,<br />
interest rate charged at eight percent as long as the student IS<br />
enrolled In school. Repayment begins six months after the<br />
borrower leaves school and continues over afive·to-ten year<br />
repayment period. Applications are available from the Office 0'<br />
Financial Aid.<br />

All students are encouraged to apply for financial aid, regardless<br />
of financial status. The broad range of financial aid resources<br />
available to the Office of Financial Aid provide access on avariety<br />
of levels. Students who do not have financial need may still<br />
qualify for academic scholarships. Contact the Office of FinancIal<br />

pilot certificate to qualify for loans,<br />
<strong>College</strong> Work Study·<br />
The <strong>College</strong> Work Study Program allows students to defray part<br />
of their cost of education through work experience. Many job<br />
placements are career related. offering both valuable experience<br />
and income to the studerl!. The recipient may work up to 16 hours<br />
per week in an on-campus placement<br />
Various departments on campus employ students in work-study<br />
positions to perform avariety of functions. The employing<br />
department decides on the selection of the student Student<br />
financial aid recipients must be aware that institutional earnings<br />
from all sources are required to be reported to the Office of<br />
Financial Aid. In limited circumstances, students' financial aid<br />
packages may require adjustment in order to coordinate the<br />
earnings with other offers of aid. Students are interviewed after<br />
being declared eligible and then placed in jobs through the Career<br />
Action Center,<br />

Scholarships<br />
Academic scholarships are offered on the basis of financial need,<br />
gr~de point average. leadership qualities, and community<br />
services. Funds are provided by private donors to <strong>Cochise</strong><br />
<strong>College</strong>. Scholarships are intended for students who are residents<br />
of the State of Arizona. Scholarship selection is dependent on the<br />
student's overall achievement and may be limited to specific fields<br />
