These courses based on nursing practice at the Associated<br />

Degree Nurse level associated with common physical and<br />

psychosocial health needs/problems throughout the lifespan: the<br />

body's response to stressors, nursing interventions relative to<br />

common health needs/problems and alterations in growth and<br />

development within these areas, explored on the use of a<br />

framework which promotes effective .:ommunication,<br />

understanding of the nursing process with emphasis on<br />

intervention and evaluation.<br />

Office Administration<br />

OAD 101* Computer Keyboardlng/3 Units<br />

Prerequisite: None.<br />

Specifically designed for (but not limited to) students with no<br />

knowledge of touch typing or prior computer experience. Skill<br />

development on keyboarding and data entry techniques will be<br />

utilized to develop speed and accuracy. Same as CIS 113.<br />

3hours lecture.<br />

OAD 102* Elementary Document Preparatlon/3 Units<br />

Prerequisite: CAD 101 or permission of instructor.<br />

Continued development of keyboarding and tp,chniques needed to<br />

master letter styles, tabulations, forms and manuscripts through<br />

individualized units of work with an expected outcome of 40<br />

GWPM for three minutes.<br />

3hours lecture; 1hour laboratory.<br />

OAD 103* Intermediate Typing/3 Units<br />

Prerequisite: CAD 102 with agrade of Cor better or permission<br />

of instructor,<br />

Continuation of elementary document preparation. Includes<br />

further development of letters, tables, manuscripts, and speed.<br />

Expected accuracy drills of 50 wpm for five minutes.<br />

3hours lecture; 1hour laboratory.<br />

OAD 104 BUSiness Math (Programmed)/3 Units<br />

Prerequisite: MAT 010 or equivalent.<br />

The fundamentals of business mathematics and ability to<br />

communicate with the number language of the business \41 ..,10.<br />

Cross list with BUS 104.<br />

3 hours lecture.<br />

OAD 115 PC Sampler/3 Units<br />

Prerequisite: None.<br />

Acourse designed fc.~ the individual who has no pr9vious<br />

computer experience and who desires exposure to what<br />

computers can accomplish. Avariety of software and hardware<br />

will be presented in an hands-on approach.<br />

OAD 116 Learn to Use Mlcrocomputers/3 Units<br />

Prerequisite: None.<br />

Aconcentrated study of computerized office applications for<br />

occupational or instructional use. This lecture-based, hands-on<br />

approach leads the student step-by-step through the various<br />

stages of the application being presented. Students acquire entry·<br />

level job skills in the areas of database management and<br />

spreadsheet manipulation.<br />

OAD 146 Bookkeeplng/3 Units<br />

Prerequisite: BUS 104 or permission of instructor. <br />

The basic accounting cycle: business transactions, journalizing. <br />

posting and financial statements. cash control and oanking. <br />

payroll preparation, credit and receivable control. inventory <br />

control. sources of funds. budgeting and ration analysis. <br />

3 hours lecture; 1hour laboratory. <br />

OAD 161 Writing Within Organlzatlons/1 Unit<br />

Prerequisite: None.<br />

The study of organizational writing to include its purposes.<br />

strategies, and processes. Students will learn to produce clear.<br />

concise, and accurate communications ranging in form from<br />

simple to complex memos for technical writers. ~anagers ~nd<br />

supervisors, short reports, long reports, proposals. feaSIbility<br />

studies and evaluation reports.<br />
