The Community Campus <br />
The C~rnmumty Campus provides credit. non-credl!. and<br />
business development programs throughout <strong>Cochise</strong> County.<br />
and profesSIOnal development courses and services throughout<br />
the Southwest. The Commumty Campus maintains acenter In<br />
Willcox and utilizes the facilities as well as classroom~ .1'\ public<br />
schools, businesses. and public sector agencies in co. ,I!,mities<br />
throughout the County. The concept of Communtty Campus,<br />
established in the mid 1960$, is to bring college courses and<br />
programs to locations where people live and work,<br />
Credit Courses<br />
Courses taught in !he Community Campus have equal content<br />
and requirements to those taught at the <strong>Cochise</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />
campuses. Courses are taught by both full-time <strong>College</strong> faculty<br />
and associate faculty from business, industry and the public<br />
education sectors. All faculty are certified to teach by the <strong>College</strong><br />
and the Arizona Community <strong>College</strong> Board.<br />
Credit courses are offered primarily in the evening throughout<br />
<strong>Cochise</strong> County. Credit courses also include joint credit courses<br />
offered for high school students during the day, and Department<br />
of Corrections professional development.<br />
Non-Credit Classes<br />
Non-credit classes cover avariety of SUbjects and offer alternative<br />
opportunities to individuals seeking non-traditional educational<br />
experiences. Weekend and evening seminars and workshops<br />
ranging from local history and culture, arts and crafts such as<br />
weaving, silversmithing and gourmet cooking, personal growth<br />
and enrichme:,1t, films and lectures. are provided for participation<br />
by the general public.<br />
Adult Basic Education, including English as a Second Language<br />
(ES9 and General Education Development (GED) are offered<br />
free," several county communities. Adults wishing to obtain their<br />
GE~ (High S~hOOI Equivalency) Diploma. to improve their<br />
English, or to Improve other basic skills, are invited to attend<br />
classes on an open entry-open exit basis.<br />
