Education courses and training services. geared for skill<br />
enhiilncement and professional development. are offered to<br />
military. business, industry. organizations and individuals<br />
throughout the Southwest. Professional Development provides<br />
an alternative training format Credit or non-credit courses ale<br />
offered as compressed classes or workshops and seminars.<br />
Professional Development Programs include: basic and advanced<br />
skills, education in reading, math and written communication;<br />
occupational skills improvement; computer information systems<br />
workshops; vocational training in electronics, aviation<br />
maintenance, telecommunications. drafting. administration of<br />
justice, and compressed courses in management, personnel<br />
development and public administration. Class location can be on<br />
campus or on the job site. Classes are offered through and semiannually<br />
published schedules and in response to individual<br />
requests for training.<br />
Small BUlinel1 Davelopment Center (SBDC)<br />
The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) IS ajointly<br />
sponsored program of <strong>Cochise</strong> <strong>College</strong> and the U.S. Small<br />
Business Administration. The SBDC assists small businesses<br />
throughout <strong>Cochise</strong> County in developing the skills and<br />
procedures to help them succeed. The SBDC works with owners<br />
to learn methods and tools to meet the challenges of operating<br />
their business. The SBDC offers low cost, practical training<br />
sessions in avariety of topics related to starting and running a<br />
business. The SBDC also offers free individual consultation in<br />
areas of concern to the business owner. Training and consultation<br />
are offered throughout the county. The SBDC has aresource<br />
center with books, periodicals, videos and other materials to aid<br />
in starting and running asuccessful small business.<br />
The Prison Education Program<br />
The Prison Education Program offers a wide range of<br />
developmental, academic, personal development and vocational<br />
courses/programs to meet the diverse needs of inmate studeru.<br />
All credit courses are selected from the college course bank and<br />
taught by faculty fully certified by the Arizona Community <strong>College</strong><br />
Board. Business machine repair, building maintenance. and<br />
horticulture programs are unique to the Prison Education<br />
Program, as are classes in pre-release and life succet'~ ~kills.<br />
The bBDC works with individuals in all stages of running a<br />
business, from those who are thinking of starting abusiness to<br />
those who have been in business for many years. Assistance is<br />
available whether abusiness is in the planning stage, having<br />
current problems, or wants to take on new opportunities.<br />
