'he Associate of General Studies (AGS) degree meets the need<br />
If the student who wishes to be an active participant In designing<br />
I program of study to meet his or her individual needs. A<br />
:omprehensive general education component ensures that the<br />
IGS degree completor will possess a minimum set of academic<br />
:ompetencies commensurate with the two-year, post·<br />
,econdary degree.<br />
'he student may choose among three uses of the AGS.<br />
. Students seeking adirect employment AGS degree will work<br />
with an advising team made up of an academic advisor from<br />
the student's area of interest, the career counselor, and a<br />
Career Action Center representative. The student and team<br />
plan aprogram of study incorporating the acquisition of skills<br />
best suited for the desired employment.<br />
. Students seeking an AGS degree for transfer will develop the<br />
program of study in cooperation with an academic advisor and<br />
an instructor of their choice.<br />

3. Students seeking an AGS degree for self·fulfillment will<br />
develop aprogram of study in cooperation with an academic<br />
advisor and an instructor of their choice.<br />
The AGS degree requires a minimum of 64 units of coursework<br />
at the 100 level and above and reading competency at the<br />
