Scholastic Honors<br />

Any student who completes 12 or more units in one semester or<br />

phase at <strong>Cochise</strong> <strong>College</strong> and maintains asemester "GPA" of.<br />

3.900 or better will be placed on High Academic Honors standing.<br />

Any student who completes 12 or mo~e units in one s~mes,~er or<br />

phase at <strong>Cochise</strong> <strong>College</strong> and maintains asemester GPA of<br />

3.500 to 3.899 will be placed on Academic Honor standing.<br />

Unit Load Limitations<br />

Student class load maximums shall be establil;hed according to<br />

the following:<br />

1. Beginning freshman<br />

(first-time college students)<br />

17 Units<br />

2. Transfer students from another college<br />

with lower than a2.0 GPA,<br />

16 Units<br />

3. Continuing students accruing 15 units and above: .<br />

a. With acumulative GPA of 2.5 or better 19 Units<br />

b. With acumulative GPA of 2.0-2.49 16 Units<br />

c. With acumulative GPA of 1,6-1.99 12 Units<br />

Due to the nature of the Aviation Maintenance, Professional Pilot<br />

Technology Program, students enrolled in the program shall be<br />

exempted the 19 unit maximum. Cooperative Education units<br />

shall be exempted from student load limitations.<br />

Academic Probation<br />

Satisfactory progress will be reviewed for all students at the end<br />

of each semester and students who have not made satisfactory<br />

progress will be placed on academic probation for the next<br />

semester. Astudent on academic probation must consult with a<br />

college counselor to develop aplan to make up deficiencies,<br />

Students on financial aid must contact the Financial<br />

Aid Office.<br />

Questions concerning an academic status should be directed to<br />

the Director of Admissions and Records.<br />

The college determines satisfactory progress by the number<br />

of units completed and the earned GPA according to the<br />

following chart:<br />

Academic Suspension or Dismissal<br />

Astudent attempting twelve or more units while on academic<br />

probation may be academically suspended if his or her semester<br />

grade point average falls below ,the accepted lim.its. (See<br />

limitations in the above academiC probation section.)<br />

All available factors having abearing upon the academIC record<br />

of the student will be evaluated prior to academic suspension.<br />

Exceptions may be made to suspension if the student has<br />

demonstrated significant improvement during academic probatiOn.<br />

The Vice President for Student Services may re-admit an<br />

academically suspended student after (Ine semester.<br />

Credit for Transfer Students<br />

Students who have attended other regionally accredited<br />

colleges and univerSities must have official copies of their<br />

academic records sent to the Transcript Clerk's Office on the<br />

Douglas Campus,<br />

Accredited higher education institutions are those that are fully<br />

accredited by the New England ASSOCiation of Schools and<br />

<strong>College</strong>s, Middle States Association of <strong>College</strong>s and Schools.<br />

North Central Association of <strong>College</strong>s and Schools. Northwest<br />

ASSOCiation of Schools and <strong>College</strong>s, Southern Association of<br />

<strong>College</strong>s and Schools, and Western Association of Schools<br />

and <strong>College</strong>s.<br />
