<strong>Cochise</strong> <strong>College</strong> offers aprogram which is accredited by the<br />
National League of Nursing and approved by the Arizona State<br />
Board of Nursing. The program is based on the ladder concept<br />
which permits students to enter or exit from the program based<br />
upon their specific needs, based on space available and certain<br />
time restraints.<br />
The nursing program prepares men and women to become Nurse<br />
Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses or Registered Nurses.<br />
Students are prepared to perform those functions commonly<br />
associated with bedside nursing. Technical nursing skills are<br />
taught in the classroom and related clinical areas such as<br />
hospitals, clinics, public health agencies, doctors offices and<br />
schools. In addition, general education courses are provided for<br />
all students<br />
Entry into the Nursing Program requires prior admission.<br />
Advanced placement based upon prior educational programs is<br />
available. For admission procedures to the Nursing Program,<br />

Nur. Asstltantl: Qualified nurse assistants are in ccnstant<br />
need to function as members of the hospital or community _<br />
team. Primary functionS for nurse assistants are to care for IJb.<br />
acutely ill patients and to assist other members of the team. This<br />
is aone semester program.<br />
Practical Nu....: Completion of the first two semester' 'f the<br />
Nursing curriculum qualifies men and women to write thu titate<br />
Board Test Pool Examination for Licensed Practical Nurses.<br />
LPN's function at askilled level in the community under the<br />
supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician. Practical nurses<br />
give basic nursing care and assist other members of the<br />
health team.<br />
Associate Deg.... Nurse: Completion of the four semester<br />
nursing curriculum qualifies men and women to write the State<br />
Board Test Pool Examination for Registered Nurses. RN's are<br />
prepared to give nursing care to individuals with common health<br />
problems. They function as members of the health team in the<br />
hospitals or community setting.<br />
