New Runway Project Strategy<br />

Project Management<br />

Project management will be conducted in accordance with SCRC requirements, which are<br />

yet to be <strong>for</strong>mally documented. Until such policies, procedures and guidance are<br />

published, legacy instructions from Maroochy Shire Council are to be used.<br />

For each phase of <strong>the</strong> overall project, <strong>the</strong> following documents will be produced <strong>for</strong><br />

approval by <strong>the</strong> project owner and maintained <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> duration of <strong>the</strong> project by <strong>the</strong> Project<br />

Manager:<br />

· Project Management <strong>Plan</strong> according to Council requirements, including:<br />

o<br />

o<br />

o<br />

o<br />

Statement of Work<br />

Project Specifications<br />

Milestone Schedule<br />

Work Breakdown Structure<br />

· MS Project Worksheet<br />

In addition to <strong>the</strong>se primary project management deliverables, status reports and o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

reports as required will be prepared by <strong>the</strong> project manager.<br />

Risk Management<br />

A risk assessment has been prepared which is preliminary and strategic in nature. A more<br />

specific risk assessment should be conducted and recorded during <strong>the</strong> preparation of each<br />

Project Management <strong>Plan</strong>.<br />

The following findings and subsequent recommendations were made as a result of <strong>the</strong> risk<br />

assessment:<br />

· Risk treatments identified should be incorporated in planning documents such as<br />

Project Management <strong>Plan</strong>s, Marketing/Communication/Public Participation<br />

Program as applicable.<br />

· The Risk Management Framework in use with Maroochy Shire Council has<br />

significant limitations regarding consideration of project risk, and should be<br />

reviewed prior to wholesale acceptance or adoption by SCRC.<br />

· Dollar amounts in financial consequence descriptors do not adequately reflect <strong>the</strong><br />

descriptors, and should be reviewed upwards. This will affect <strong>the</strong> assessed level of<br />

risk <strong>for</strong> financial and project risks identified in <strong>the</strong> risk assessment.<br />

Knowledge Management<br />

As <strong>the</strong> Project will occur over such a long period and require <strong>the</strong> coordinated management<br />

of interdependent, complex and costly tasks, it is important to document <strong>the</strong> ways in which<br />

knowledge will be managed within <strong>the</strong> project. Guidance regarding document naming and<br />

filing conventions, amendment and approval process, storage, security and control is<br />

provided.<br />
