4.7. Tourism Operators
Tourism Operators are likely to be fully supportive of the Project as they will benefit
substantially from a direct disbursement of tourists into the region. Harnessing this support
will require the implementation of a comprehensive communications plan.
4.8. Airport Neighbours
The support of community neighbours is likely to be divided between those currently
affected by the runway and those that will be affected by the new runway. The
management of the communications with these communities will be important to ensure
that these communities have sufficient information upon which to inform themselves of the
impacts of the Project.
4.9. Sunshine Coast Community
It is expected that there will be wide support across the Sunshine Coast for the Project
given the benefits for the community and businesses across the Coast. As with the
neighbours, a clear understanding of the Project, its costs, impacts and benefits will be vital
to the projects success and may assist in the mitigation of the political risks associated with
the political cycle
4.10. Government Agencies
The smooth progression of the Project will depend on a number of approvals to be granted
by various Government agencies. Early and comprehensive briefings on the Project will
assist these agencies to undertake their statutory obligations.
There are a number of state government programs including the South East Queensland
Infrastructure Program and Plan that have shared or associated strategic outcomes. Close
cooperation with Government agencies will enhance the likelihood of successful
achievement of these outcomes.
