8. Project Organisation<br />

For <strong>the</strong> project to be properly executed, a project organisation needs to be established,<br />

including structure, roles and responsibilities and reporting relationships.<br />

8.2. Organisation Structure<br />

Sunshine Coast Airport is structured according to functional areas of activity, with three<br />

functional managers reporting to <strong>the</strong> Airport Manager.<br />

The traditional divisions of aeronautical and commercial functions are managed by <strong>the</strong><br />

Operations Manager and Commercial and Property Manager respectively, while <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Business</strong> Manager provides <strong>the</strong> finance requirements.<br />

Note that where consultants and/or project managers are utilised to carry out work <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>airport</strong>, <strong>the</strong>y are usually positioned at a level equal to <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r line managers subordinate<br />

to <strong>the</strong> <strong>airport</strong> manager.<br />

8.2.1. Current and Future Operations<br />

To ensure that work on <strong>the</strong> new runway project does not interfere with <strong>the</strong> day to day<br />

operations and commercial activities at <strong>the</strong> <strong>airport</strong>, <strong>the</strong> concept of current and future ops<br />

will be employed. The standing organisation of <strong>the</strong> <strong>airport</strong> will concentrate on current<br />

operations and planning <strong>for</strong> near-term activities, while <strong>the</strong> project manager will attend to<br />

longer-term future requirements as embodied in <strong>the</strong> new runway project and o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

associated programs as required. The <strong>airport</strong> manager will oversee both current and future<br />

operations and facilitate interaction as appropriate to ensure <strong>the</strong> achievement of all desired<br />

outcomes.<br />
