Business Case for the Sunshine Coast Airport n Master Plan (November 2009) 09.3 Staged development plan A staged development plan has been drawn up to manage the delivery of the project. The philosophy behind this plan rests on the premise of ensuring that maximum use is made of existing infrastructure in the subsequent stages. This plan assumes the proposed new east-west runway 13/31 and associated taxiways, new passenger terminal, access road and aviation support facilities will commence in 2020. Three development stages of the existing airport are provided as follows: ■■ Stage 1 (Short Term) 0 – 5 years A brief description and status of each major works item within each development stage, as well as likely triggers for each item, are provided in the three tables below: ■■ ■■ Stage 2 (Medium Term) 6 - 10 years Stage 3 (Long Term) 11 – 15 years 42
