ANNEX G (ENGINEER) TO OPLAN/OPORD [number] [(code name)]—[issuing headquarters]<br />

1. (U) Situation. Include information affecting engineer support that paragraph 1 of the OPLAN or OPORD<br />

does not cover or that needs expansion.<br />

a. (U) Area of Interest. Describe the area of interest as it relates to engineer operations. Refer to Annex B<br />

(Intelligence) as required.<br />

b. (U) Area of Operations. Refer to Appendix 2 (Operation Overlay) to Annex C (Operations) as required.<br />

(1) (U) Terrain. Describe the aspects of terrain that impact engineer operations. Refer to Annex B<br />

(Intelligence) as required.<br />

(2) (U) Weather. Describe the aspects of weather that impact engineer operations. Refer to Annex B<br />

(Intelligence) as required.<br />

c. (U) Enemy Forces. List known <strong>and</strong> templated locations <strong>and</strong> activities of enemy engineer units for one<br />

echelon up <strong>and</strong> two echelons down. List enemy maneuver <strong>and</strong> other capabilities that will impact engineer<br />

operations. State expected enemy courses of action <strong>and</strong> employment of enemy engineer assets. Give a detailed<br />

description of enemy engineer units, assets, <strong>and</strong> any known obstacles. Refer to Annex B (Intelligence) as<br />

required.<br />

d. (U) Friendly Forces. Outline the higher headquarters’ engineer operations plan. List designation,<br />

location, <strong>and</strong> outline of plan of higher, adjacent, <strong>and</strong> other engineer assets that support or impact the issuing<br />

headquarters or require coordination <strong>and</strong> additional support.<br />

e. (U) Interagency, Intergovernmental, <strong>and</strong> Nongovernmental Organizations. Identify <strong>and</strong> describe other<br />

organizations in the area of operations that may impact the conduct of engineer operations or implementation<br />

of engineer-specific equipment <strong>and</strong> tactics. Refer to Annex V (Interagency Coordination) as required.<br />

f. (U) Civil Considerations. Describe the critical aspects of the civil situation that impact engineer<br />

operations. Refer to Annex B (Intelligence) <strong>and</strong> Annex K (Civil Affairs Operations) as required.<br />

g. (U) Attachments <strong>and</strong> Detachments. List all engineer assets with a comm<strong>and</strong> support relationship with<br />

higher headquarters. List any units detached or under the operational control of other headquarters. Refer to<br />

Annex A (Task Organization) as required.<br />

h. (U) Assumptions. List any engineer-specific assumptions that support the annex development.<br />

2. (U) Mission. State the engineer mission in support of the base plan or order.<br />

3. (U) Execution.<br />

a. (U) Scheme of Engineer Support. Describe how engineer operations support the comm<strong>and</strong>er’s intent <strong>and</strong><br />

concept of operations. Establish the priorities of engineer support to units for each phase of the operation.<br />

Refer to the base plan or order <strong>and</strong> Annex C (Operations) as required.<br />

(1) (U) Assured Mobility. Describe the plan to maintain freedom of movement <strong>and</strong> maneuver. Refer to<br />

Appendix 1 (Mobility/Countermobility) to Annex G (Engineer) as required.<br />

(a) (U) Mobility Support. State the scheme of mobility operations to include task <strong>and</strong> purpose.<br />

This includes breaching (proofing, marking lanes, providing guides, <strong>and</strong> maintaining <strong>and</strong> clearing routes),<br />

relative location (route or objective), priority for reduction assets used (use plows first, then mine-clearing line<br />

charge), priority of clearance assets, <strong>and</strong> unit responsible. For gap crossing operations, refer to Appendix 4<br />

(Gap Crossing Operations) to Annex C (Operations).<br />
