At the time,public op<strong>in</strong>ion was prepared to give credit to any gossip; hesitation wasentirely abandoned, and hatred took over <strong>in</strong> almost everyone.Two months later, the Jews forced to shovel snow, were greeted with breadand hot meals. However, the decl<strong>in</strong>e of hatred was slower than its rise.
