VTE-, we considered that the two coagulation activation markers are significant in evaluatingVTE despite of whether or not enforcing preventive anticoagulant therapy. In this research, there were a lot of cases that had DVT in proximal calf. Therefore, there needs to be moreexploitation such as producing intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) device, which couldreduce the occurrence of DVT in proximal calf.Poster: 25Multi-Center Study of Exeter Stem in Japan*Hiroshi Fujita - Institute for Joint Replacement, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, KyotoKatsura Hospital - Kyoto, JapanHiromi Otsuka - - ,Naoyuki Katayama - Hokkaido Orthopaedic Memorial Hospital - Sapporo, Japan*Email: hfshoot@aol.com"Purpose" Exeter stem was introduced to Japanese market at 2000. Since then, owing to itsexcellent clinical results, the number of the stem used has been increased and more than 2000stems have been implanted during the year 2009. The present study aims to prove its efficacyfor Japanese patients by evaluating short term results of four major dedicated hip centers."Method" We present the short-term multi-center results of primary THA with Exeter stemused for the femoral side in 1000 hips. Mean postoperative follow up period was 5 (ranging 2 to9) years. "Results" At final follow up, no radiolucent line at bone-cement interface or focalosteolysis was observed. Cortical hypertrophy was observed at Gruen zone 2, 3 4, 5, and 6 in10%. Neither osteolysis nor loosening was observed in every case. Kaplan-Meier survivorshipanalysis predicted a rate of survival of the femoral component at 9 years of 100% with revisionfor aseptic loosening as the endpoint. "Conclusion" The present study revealed excellent shorttermresult was obtained using Exeter stem combined with modern cementing technique forJapanese patients.Poster: 26file:///E|/ISTA2010-Abstracts.htm[12/7/2011 3:15:47 PM]
