States of America as a result of a rise in imports<br />

of $2,110m (mainly Transport equipment<br />

excluding road vehicles; and<br />

Telecommunications and sound recording and<br />

reproducing apparatus and equipment); and<br />

a $402m rise in the deficit with China as a<br />

result of a rise in imports of $1,414m (mainly<br />

Articles of apparel and clothing) which was<br />

partly offset by a rise in exports of $1,011<br />

(mainly Petroleum, petroleum products and<br />

related materials; and Combined confidential<br />

items of trade and commodities n.e.s.).<br />

These were partly offset by:<br />

a $1,683m increase in the surplus with Japan as<br />

a result of a rise in exports of $2,234m (mainly<br />

Petroleum, petroleum products and related<br />

materials; and Combined confidential items of<br />

trade and commodities n.e.s.) which was partly<br />

offset by a rise in imports of $551m (mainly<br />

Road vehicles including air-cushion vehicles;<br />

and Office machines and automatic data<br />

processing machines);<br />

a $878m increase in the surplus with the<br />

Republic of Korea as a result of a rise in exports<br />

of $1,295m (mainly Petroleum, petroleum<br />

products and related materials) which was<br />

partly offset by a rise in imports of $417m<br />

(mainly Telecommunications and sound<br />

recording and reproducing apparatus and<br />

equipment); and<br />

a $126m fall in the deficit with Germany as a<br />

result of a fall in imports of $290m (mainly<br />

Road vehicles including air-cushion vehicles<br />

and General industrial machinery and<br />

equipment).<br />
