Employment in agriculture
The number of people employed in agriculture
increased by 4% in 1999 to 408,000 persons. The
majority of persons employed in agriculture were
male (68%). Slightly less than 79% of women
employed in agriculture were married, compared
with 67% of men.
Table 15.5 shows the average employment in
agriculture and services to agriculture for each of
the years 1994 to 1999.
