Employment in agriculture<br />

The number of people employed in agriculture<br />

increased by 4% in 1999 to 408,000 persons. The<br />

majority of persons employed in agriculture were<br />

male (68%). Slightly less than 79% of women<br />

employed in agriculture were married, compared<br />

with 67% of men.<br />

Table 15.5 shows the average employment in<br />

agriculture and services to agriculture for each of<br />

the years 1994 to 1999.<br />
