Industry value added by State<br />

In 1998–99 New South Wales and Victoria (each<br />

with 33% of national manufacturing value added)<br />

continued to be the largest contributors to IVA<br />

(table 19.6). New South Wales contributed<br />

43% of the national value added of the Printing,<br />

publishing and recorded media industry, and<br />

between 28% and 39% of the national value<br />

added of the remaining manufacturing industries.<br />

Victoria contributed 56% of the national value<br />

added of the Textile, clothing, footwear and<br />

leather manufacturing industry, 40% of the<br />

national value added of the Machinery and<br />

equipment manufacturing industry and between<br />

22% and 35% of the national value added of the<br />

remaining manufacturing industries.<br />

Although Queensland accounted for only<br />

14% of national manufacturing value added<br />

overall, it contributed 22% for Non-metallic<br />

mineral product manufacturing and 20% for<br />

Food, beverages and tobacco manufacturing.<br />

South <strong>Australia</strong>, which accounted for 9% of<br />

national manufacturing value added overall,<br />

contributed 15% of national value added for<br />

Machinery and equipment manufacturing.<br />
