Table 6.24 and graph 6.25 provide a view of the<br />

distribution of employee jobs between the private<br />

and public sectors, and across the States and<br />

Territories. These statistics are obtained from the<br />

quarterly Survey of Employment and Earnings, a<br />

survey of employing businesses. They are<br />

complementary to, but not compatible with,<br />

estimates of employed persons from the<br />

household-based Labour Force Survey. While the<br />

latter provides a better indicator of overall<br />

employment movements at the <strong>Australia</strong>n and<br />

State/Territory levels, the former provides<br />

dissections by sector.<br />
