Table 6.7 provides an overview of labour force<br />

status of persons at June 2000, according to the<br />

family relationship within households. Notable<br />

features include: for couple families with<br />

dependants present, 84.6% of husbands were<br />

employed full-time, compared with 26.1% of<br />

wives (with a further 35.1% of wives employed<br />

part-time). For lone parents with dependants,<br />

52.7% of male lone parents were employed<br />

full-time compared with 23.1% of female lone<br />

parents. The unemployment rate for lone parents<br />

was higher than for husbands or wives.<br />
