(57) Abstract : The present invention relates to an unattended system for depositing the cheques in a bank<br />

with proper acknowledgement. The cheque deposit stations as per the invention are machines connected to<br />

the bank’s central server <strong>and</strong> accept the cheque <strong>and</strong> issue an acknowledgement for the user with the image<br />

<strong>of</strong> the cheque. The stations also keep a log <strong>of</strong> transactions, which is used to generate various files for<br />

cheque’s verification <strong>and</strong> validation, clearing <strong>of</strong> the cheque, <strong>and</strong> customer service.<br />
