An improved process for the preparation of styrene acrylonitrile copolymer using β-cyclodextrin
by polymerizing by conventional method styrene and acrylonitrile in presence of clathrate (with
respect to styrene monomer) wherein the ratio of monomer to clathrate ranges from (10:1 to 20:1)
in presence of conventional initiator and surface active agent at a temperature in the range of 80 to
90 o C for minimum 10 hrs and recovering styrene-acrylonitrile is a copolymer by known methods.
Styrene acrylonitrile copolymer is used in preparation of house-ware applications, automobile
components and packaging industry.
