(57) Abstract : Disclosed is a novel process for the preparation of tris (2,4-di tert butyl phenyl) phosphite
comprising reacting a mixture of 2,4-di tert phenol (1.94 moles) and pyridine (1.94 moles) in presence of
Methylene Dichloride with PCl3 (0.64 moles), by adding PCl3 in drops at 0-5ºC in nitrogen atmosphere over a
period of one hour; distilling out the residue Methylene Dichloride; adding Iso-propanol and filtering out the
white crystalline precipitate; and washing the resultant product with cold water.
