(57) Abstract : Disclosed is a novel process for the preparation <strong>of</strong> tris (2,4-di tert butyl phenyl) phosphite<br />

comprising reacting a mixture <strong>of</strong> 2,4-di tert phenol (1.94 moles) <strong>and</strong> pyridine (1.94 moles) in presence <strong>of</strong><br />

Methylene Dichloride with PCl3 (0.64 moles), by adding PCl3 in drops at 0-5ºC in nitrogen atmosphere over a<br />

period <strong>of</strong> one hour; distilling out the residue Methylene Dichloride; adding Iso-propanol <strong>and</strong> filtering out the<br />

white crystalline precipitate; <strong>and</strong> washing the resultant product with cold water.<br />
