Our mission is to publish authentically Catholic books
that are traditional, accessible, and beautiful.
Benedictus Books takes its name from the opening Latin phrase of the Canticle of Zechariah,
prayed daily in the Catholic Church since the earliest centuries. Our logo evokes the antiquity
of Gregorian chant and the illuminated manuscript tradition, emphasizing continuity with
the faith and worship of the past and the continuing relevance of our sacred patrimony today.
Benedictus Books was established in 2021 with the launch of our acclaimed periodical
Benedictus, the “Traditional Catholic Companion” — a daily devotional drawing on the theological
riches and customs of the ancient Roman Rite, and allowing for a deeper experience of
the traditional Latin Mass, liturgical calendar, and writings of countless saints and theologians.
This periodical reflects the three core values of Benedictus Books:
Traditional. We are committed to preserving and handing on the Faith of our forefathers
without diminution or change, publishing works that are both inspired by and conformable
to traditional Catholic doctrine, liturgy, and spirituality. Our primary focus is on republishing
reliably orthodox works that help to promote the interior life and sanctification of
the domestic church through classical forms of prayer and worship.
Accessible. Recognizing that many aspects of Catholic doctrine, liturgy, and custom have
become obscured in recent decades, we place an emphasis on texts that explain and assist
readers in mining the vast theological wealth that is contained and expressed in the
traditional Roman Rite, as well as those writings of saints and scholars that have been
profoundly shaped by the same.
Beautiful. Rooted in the perennial tradition of Western sacred art, we believe that texts
treating such exalted subjects deserve a truly beautiful and durable presentation. We invest
extensive time and meticulous care to create inspiring new typesettings with rich ornament
and illustration, crisp typography, clean layouts, and classic bindings to make every book
as pleasing to hold and look at as it is to read.
In order to be worthy of the noble content they contain, all of our books are crafted to the
most exacting standards, allowing these priceless treasures from our Catholic tradition to be
cherished for years to come.
