hold the object against the palm with the fingers. For pad opposition, there<br />

are eight basic ways to use the fingers and thumb to hold and manipulate an<br />

object. For side oppositions, there are two basic ways to hold an object<br />

laterally. Note that some postures (e.g., power grasp, internal precision, etc.)<br />

are combinations of basic postures. These combined grasps are not labelled<br />

with a letter.<br />
