Project Navigator view The Project Navigator view shows the application resources in a project-oriented hierarchy. There are three kinds of resources: Files Files correspond to files in the file system. Folders Folders are like directories in the file system. They can contain files as well as other folders. Projects Projects organize resources into logical application components. When you create a new project, for example, an enterprise application or Web project, a new folder is created for the project with the appropriate folder structure beneath it in the workspace. The structure shown in the navigator aligns with the structure of J2EE enterprise and Web applications. Attributes view The Attributes view shows you the attributes of the selected element in the editor and allows you to change them. For example, if the cursor in the editor is within a table tag, you will see table attributes in the Attributes view. You can set things like the table or cell background colors, text alignment within the cell, and the size of the cell. If the cursor is within a link, the attributes will show you the URL to link to, the window to open, and other link attributes. In Figure 5-1 on page 78, the cursor in the editor area is immediately after the tag. In the Attributes view, you have access to the attributes you can set for that tag. If the cursor was situated within a table, the Attributes view would look like Figure 5-2. Tip: To set the attributes of an element, you must have that element selected or place the cursor within the tag that defines the element. Sometimes this can be tricky using the Design view since you cannot see the source tags. Add the Outline view to your perspective and use it to select the correct element, then switch back to the Attributes view. Thumbnail and Gallery views The Gallery view gives you a list of predefined resources that can be placed in the open file. The resources available include images, wallpaper, Webart (buttons, logos, arrows, and illustrations), sound files (.wav and .mid formats), and style sheet files. When you open any of the folders in the Gallery view, the available files are displayed in the Thumbnail view.
