The list you see is relevant to the position of the cursor in the editor. This makes the content assist particularly useful when working with tags. Placing the cursor within the tag will limit the options you see to the tag options. For example, if you have placed the cursor within a custom taglib tag, you will only see options that are valid for that location. Figure 8-4 shows the content assist menu when you have the cursor immediately after the sql: tag. You see a list of all valid tag options to choose from. Figure 8-4 Using the content assist menu If you move the cursor over a few spaces so that it follows the sql:statement, then you only see a list of what is expected next. Snippets view The Snippets view contains reusable JSP objects. The JSP options are shown in Figure 8-6. To use the ojects, simply drag and drop them from the drawer onto the JSP in the source view of Page designer. Opting to insert one of the options places the template for the code in the file at the cursor location.
