► Customer service application: the sample uses an insurance scenario to<br />

illustrate login to a private, SSL-protected user account. Users can see their<br />

claims and update personal information. This sample features<br />

personalization.<br />

► Custom home page application: this sample features a per-employee,<br />

self-customized home page with links to existing Web-based resources. The<br />

home page also has company bulletin, news, stock quotes, and other<br />

informational pages. The sample illustrates personalization based on cookies,<br />

search capability, sorting, and Web service access.<br />

► Your company application: this sample illustrates using HTML pages, style<br />

sheets, tag libraries, and JSPs to build a complete application. It features<br />

personalization, search capability, and a simple conference room reservation<br />

system. The modification scenario included is:<br />

– Adding a user role for personalization<br />

1.3.2 Installing an example application<br />

Loading a sample is easy:<br />

1. Select File -> New -> Other -> Examples -> Web -> sample.<br />

2. Click Next.<br />

3. Most, if not all, of the fields in the next panel are filled out for you. The project<br />

name and context will default to the example name. You will be prompted to<br />

select an enterprise application to add it to or to create a new enterprise<br />

application. More than likely, this is your first project, so you will elect to add a<br />

new enterprise application (see Figure 1-3 on page 13). You can name this<br />

anything you want.<br />
