You will find the following information in the CVS Resource History view:
► Revision: The repository-generated revision number. Each revision
represents a commit for the resource. The commit only happens when the
resource is changed so a revision indicates a change in the resource.
► Tags: When a new version or branch is created the resources involved have a
tag associated with that revision. The tag is entered by the person making the
change. When you select a project and then tag it as a version, you enter the
tag name. For a branch, it is the branch name.
When a resource is associated with a new branch and committed, a tag is
added to the revision indicating the branch. For example, you can see in
Figure 15-13 on page 543 that revision 1.6 was used as the basis for two new
branches. The first branch name is Dev2sBranch. The version created when
the project was committed to the branch is Root_Dev2sBranch. The second
branch is Dev1sBranch.
► Date: When the revision was created (committed).
► Author: Who created (committed) this version.
► Comment: If any were added by its author.
You might need to maximize this view in your perspective to be able to see the
complete information. Each column can be sorted in ascending order by clicking
the column heading.
Tip: You can compare two revision levels of the resource in this view by
selecting both entries (Ctrl+click each) and select Compare from the context
menu.
15.9 Comparing resources
You can compare two selected resources to view the differences between them.
You can do the compare at the file, folder, or project level. You can also compare
a resource with other states in the local edit history or with other versions of that
resource.
When a comparison is performed, all applicable compare editors appear in the
editor area. You can browse through the differences and copy/move the
highlighted differences between the compared resources. You can then save
changes to resources that were made in the compare editor.
