3. This will open the The New Database Connection wizard. For this exercise we used a DB2 database. DB2 connection The values needed in the wizard for connecting to a DB2 database are shown in Figure 6-4. The Connection name will be OnlineCatalogConn. This name is only used to identify the connection. It is chosen at random. The Database name is SALESAPP. This must be the same value you named your database when you created it using your database software. The User ID and Password you enter must have the proper authorization to access the database. The Database vendor type drop-down box contains a list of vendor databases that can be used in Studio Site Developer. We chose DB2 Universal Database Express V8.1. The database is a local DB2 database, so we select the IBM DB2 APP Driver as the JDBC driver. In this instance, the JDBC driver class to match the selection (COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver) is filled in for you. Verify that the class location is correct. The drivers are supplied by the database vendor so you will need to have the drivers installed locally, even if you are accessing a remote server. If you wish to limit the schemas or tables returned use the Filters option. This option is typically used to filter out system tables since they are usually not needed in designing Web applications. It reduces the clutter of tables in the schema. This is not necessary and we did not do this. b. Oracle connection Figure 6-5 shows the same connection to an Oracle database.
