You may either restart the server automatically or manually. If you have selected
situations occurs.
To restart a server manually:
1. In the Servers view, select the server you want to restart.
2. Click the ‘restart the server” icon ( ) on the toolbar. In the Status column of
the Servers view, the status of the server changes to Stopped and then to
13.8 Deploying applications for production
Applications are deployed to the Express Application Server as enterprise
applications. When you are testing, this is done for you by the Server tools when
you publish the application to the server.
In a production environment, it is likely that the Express Application Server is
being managed from the administrative console and not from Studio Site
Developer. In this case, you will need to export the application and place it on the
application server for deployment.
The steps involved in deploying an application are as follows.
1. Ensure there are no errors in the application.
2. Export the application to the server, either to a file or using FTP.
3. Using the administrative console for the server, add any required resources
such as data source definitions, install the application and start it. Using the
administrative console to deploy an application is covered in WebSphere
Application Server - Express V5.0.1 Administrator Handbook, SG24-6976.
13.8.1 Exporting an enterprise application to a file location
