Dassù e il più giovane Francesco Molinari. In epoca moderna con
l’edizione 1999 targata Fiat, l’Open assume una importante posizione
a livello internazionale ponendosi come rampa di lancio per i giovani
talenti dei quali il primo è stato Ian Poulter vincitore di due titoli
(2000-2002). Nel 2003 la Federazione Italiana Golf diventa organizzatore
dell’evento giungendo ad un accordo con l’European Tour e da
quel momento in poi il torneo è divenuto senza dubbio più elevato
sia come tasso tecnico che in termini di visibilità.
I margini di miglioramento ci sono ancora sotto tanti aspetti ma ogni
anno sono molteplici le novità presentate così come i giocatori che
vogliono battersi per portare a casa il successo.
Quest’anno sarà la quarta edizione disputata sui green del Royal Park
I Roveri, percorso creato dall’architetto Robert Trent Jones Senior
progettista internazionale e ideatore di più di 500 campi. La qualità
del campo è assoluta (anche nel 2011 si è confermato vincitore del
premio I 10 Migliori Campi d’Italia ideato dalla rivista Il mondo del
Golf) così come il contesto in cui si colloca offrendo una splendida
vista sulle Alpi e sul Parco regionale della Mandria.
Per quanto riguarda l’aspetto tecnico il campo richiede un gioco coraggioso
ma ben studiato strategicamente, tenendo conto delle parti-

the championship has undoubtedly developed from a
technical point of view but also in terms of viewership. There
are still a lot of opportunities to improve further, but every
year many changes are introduced as well as new players
who are ready to fight for success. This year, the fourth edition
of the event will be held on the golf courses of the Royal
Park I Roveri, created by the architect Robert Trent Jones
Senior, international designer of more than 500 courses. The
quality of the field is of the highest (in 2011 it was awarded
again of the Top 10 Best Fields of Italy prize, created by the
magazine Il mondo del Golf ), as well as the surrounding
which offer a splendid sight of the Alps and the La Mandria
Regional Park. As for its technical aspect, the course requires
