The London 2012 Olympic Games have been a great event! A
global event that Her Majesty the Queen could not have missed.
How to make this occasion a memorable event? The organizers,
directed by the British director Danny Boyle, responsible for the
artistic direction of the games’ opening ceremony, have probably
thought a lot about it. They have been able to take advantage
of this event to honour two symbols of their country: the
Monarchy and the literary and film myth James Bond.
What other opportunity could have been better than the opening
of the Olympics to see those two emblems together?
Thus, the classic London taxi carrying James Bond enters the
courtyard of the royal palace and a butler introduces him into
the private apartment, where the Queen is busy with her duties.
"Mr. Bond, Her Majesty" he announces. Bond enters and stands
at the center of the hall, in formal waiting. "Good evening Mr.
Bond" Her Majesty welcomes him. "Good evening Her
Majesty" Bond greets obsequiously. The queen leaves the room,
followed by Bond and her dogs. The group arrives in the garden
where the royal helicopter is waiting to lift off, they go on board,
the helicopter takes off and flies over London where a joyful
crowd greets them and pays tribute to Her Majesty. The statue
commemorating Winston Churchill comes to life and greets the
helicopter and its royal passenger. The helicopter goes up following
the Thames, passes by the Big Ben and Westminster, then
next to the London Eye and finally under the piers of Tower
Bridge. The stadium is there, all the faces turned upwards, the
rhythmic whirling of rotors announces the arrival of Her
Majesty. The speaker announces: "Ladies and gentlemen, Her
Majesty as you have never seen Her before!" Bond watches
what is below him, then the pilot gives him the okay. Bond undoes
his belt and opens the door. A whirlwind creeps into the
cabin. Bond steps aside and Her Majesty passes by. A brief moment
of free fall, then, like the wings of a bird, two parachutes
open, with the Union Jack flag waving in all its glory. The Queen
and Bond whirl down, then disappear behind the vaults. A few
moments of waiting, then Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II appears
in the VIP stand. Let the Games begin!

Le Olimpiadi di Londra 2012 erano una grande occasione! Un evento
mondiale al quale Sua altezza la Regina non sarebbe potuta mancare.
Come rendere quest’occasione, un evento memorabile?
Devono averci pensato molto i creatori diretti dal regista inglese
Danny Boyle, responsabile del settore artistico per la cerimonia di
apertura dei giochi. Con la proverbiale “fava” hanno colto due piccioni
ed onorato due emblemi storici del loro paese, uno Reale, l’altro
appartenente al mito letterario e cinematografico, James Bond.
Quale miglior modo, se non quello di vederli per la prima volta insieme
dare inizio alla kermesse olimpica?
Cosi il classico taxi londinese con a bordo james Bond entra all’interno
del cortile del palazzo reale, un maggiordomo lo introduce nell’appartamento
privato, dove la Regina è impegnata nei Suoi doveri.
“Mr. Bond, Her Majesty” annuncia. Bond entra e si pone al centro del
salone, in formale attesa. “Good evening Mr. Bond” lo accoglie Sua
Maestà. “Good evening Her Majesty” saluta ossequioso Bond.
La regina esce dalla stanza accompagnata da Bond e dai suoi cagnolini.
Il corteo giunge nel giardino dove l’elicottero reale è in attesa di decollare,
saliti a bordo, il velivolo decolla, e sorvola Londra, dove da
qualunque parte una folla festante saluta e rende omaggio a Sua
Maestà. La stessa statua che commemora Wiston Churchill si anima e
saluta l’elicottero e la sua regale passeggera.
L’elicottero risale il Tamigi, passando attorno al Big Ben e
Westminster, poi di fianco alla grande ruota panoramica, e poi sotto i
piloni del Tower Bridge. Lo stadio è li, i volti tutti rivolti verso l’alto, il
ritmico roteare dei rotori annuncia l’arrivo di Sua Maestà. Lo speaker
annuncia ai microfoni: “Signore e signori, Sua Maestà come mai l’avete
vista prima!” Bond osserva sotto di lui, il pilota gli da l’ok. Bond si
slaccia la cintura ed apre il portellone. Un turbine d’aria si insinua nell’abitacolo.
Bond si fa da parte e Sua Maestà gli sfila davanti. Un breve istante di
caduta libera, poi, come ali di uccello, si aprono due paracadute, con
la bandiera della Union Jack che si tende in tutta la sua magnificenza.
La Regina e Bond scendono volteggiando, poi scompaiono dietro le
volte della copertura. Alcuni istanti di attesa, poi Sua Maestà la Regina
Elisabetta II, appare in tribuna di onore. Un regale ingresso in puro
stile bondiano. Che le olimpiadi abbiano inizio! n
