Welcome to Mr.Bond, Francesco. What k<strong>in</strong>d of emotions have<br />
you felt dubb<strong>in</strong>g for the first time Craig <strong>in</strong> Cas<strong>in</strong>o Royale?<br />
I had already dubbed Daniel Craig two times before Cas<strong>in</strong>o<br />
Royale, one of which under the direction of Sandro Acerbo,<br />
who was then director of "Cas<strong>in</strong>o Royale" too. Dubb<strong>in</strong>g 007<br />
cannot be def<strong>in</strong>ed the f<strong>in</strong>al accomplishment, but it is certa<strong>in</strong>ly<br />
a source of pride and a honor. Moreover, be<strong>in</strong>g compared<br />
with giants of the past is a honor, first of all P<strong>in</strong>o Locchi, the<br />
voice of Sean Connery, the James Bond par excellence!<br />
However, it is still the highlight of my CV. Craig is a particu<strong>la</strong>r<br />
actor, who p<strong>la</strong>ys a different Bond, more human, more violent,<br />
more bad; he kills, falls <strong>in</strong> love, makes mistakes. It has been a<br />
difficult but excit<strong>in</strong>g approach, we studied a lot to try to understand<br />
him <strong>in</strong> all its nuances, and at first I was def<strong>in</strong>itely frightened<br />
at the thought of giv<strong>in</strong>g my voice to a film icon, but we<br />
managed to f<strong>in</strong>d the right way, and everyth<strong>in</strong>g came as if by<br />
magic! Say<strong>in</strong>g "My name is Bond, James Bond" was amaz<strong>in</strong>g!<br />
In "Cas<strong>in</strong>o Royale", he says it only once, it was great!!!!!<br />
How do you prepare before dubb<strong>in</strong>g?<br />
There is not any special preparation, I start work<strong>in</strong>g without<br />
hav<strong>in</strong>g seen the film: we cannot see it because of safety issues,<br />
and hence it is a "work <strong>in</strong> progress"; there is a lot of col<strong>la</strong>boration<br />
between us as actors, and we work together so that the<br />
characters are rendered <strong>in</strong> the right way.<br />
007 Italian fans are very happy with what you have done, you<br />
have been able to improve Craig’s <strong>in</strong>terpretation of Bond.<br />
From Cas<strong>in</strong>o Royale to Quantum of So<strong>la</strong>ce, did you have to<br />
change someth<strong>in</strong>g about your personal approach to dubb<strong>in</strong>g?<br />
I am g<strong>la</strong>d that my work has been appreciated, partly<br />
because my commitment was total, but I must say that<br />
I f<strong>in</strong>d Craig a good actor; he has many shades, sometimes<br />
undetectable, but crucial to the success of the character:<br />
a bad actor is more difficult to dub, while he helped me a lot<br />
to do my job with his <strong>in</strong>terpretation. I was very careful to his<br />
expressions, try<strong>in</strong>g to capture every nuance, and above<br />
all I have tried to dub him look<strong>in</strong>g at his eyes rather<br />
than the mouth, and that helped me a lot.<br />

Benvenuto su Mr.Bond, Francesco. Che tipo di emozioni ti ha dato<br />
doppiare per <strong>la</strong> prima volta Daniel Craig <strong>in</strong> Cas<strong>in</strong>o Royale?<br />
Avevo doppiato Daniel Craig prima di Cas<strong>in</strong>o Royale altre due volte,<br />
una delle quali con <strong>la</strong> direzione di Sandro Acerbo, che poi è stato il direttore<br />
anche di "Cas<strong>in</strong>o Royale". Doppiare 007 non posso def<strong>in</strong>irlo<br />
un punto di arrivo ma è sicuramente un vanto, un onore doppiare un<br />
personaggio del genere, oltretutto essendo accostati a mostri sacri del<br />
passato, primo fra tutti P<strong>in</strong>o Locchi, "La" voce di James Bond per antonomasia,<br />
ovvero di Sean Connery! Ed è comunque il fiore all'occhiello<br />
del mio curriculum. Craig è un attore partico<strong>la</strong>re, <strong>in</strong>terpreta<br />
un bond diverso, più umano, più violento, più cattivo... uccide, si <strong>in</strong>namora,<br />
sbaglia.., è stato un approccio complicato ma stimo<strong>la</strong>nte, abbiamo<br />
studiato molto per cercare di prenderlo <strong>in</strong> tutte le sue sfumature,<br />
e all'<strong>in</strong>izio ero sicuramente <strong>in</strong>timorito al pensiero di dare <strong>la</strong> mia voce<br />
a un’icona del c<strong>in</strong>ema, ma poi siamo riusciti a trovare <strong>la</strong> chiave giusta,<br />
e tutto è venuto come per magia! Poi poter dire "il mio nome è Bond,<br />
James Bond"......! In "Cas<strong>in</strong>o Royale" lo dice una so<strong>la</strong> volta, ed è l'ultima<br />
battuta del film, è stata una goduria stratosferica!!!!!!<br />
Prima di doppiare un film come ti prepari?<br />
Non facciamo una preparazione partico<strong>la</strong>re, io ho com<strong>in</strong>ciato il <strong>la</strong>voro<br />
senza aver visto il film, non possiamo per problemi di sicurezza, e<br />
qu<strong>in</strong>di è un "work <strong>in</strong> progress", c'è molta col<strong>la</strong>borazione fra noi attori,<br />
il direttore e il responsabile del<strong>la</strong> produzione, e <strong>in</strong>sieme <strong>la</strong>voriamo<br />
aff<strong>in</strong>chè il personaggio prenda <strong>la</strong> piega giusta<br />
I fan italiani di 007 sono molto soddisfatti del tuo <strong>la</strong>voro, sei riuscito a<br />
migliorare l’<strong>in</strong>terpretazione che Craig da a Bond. Da Cas<strong>in</strong>o Royale a<br />
Quantum of So<strong>la</strong>ce, hai dovuto modificare qualcosa al tuo personale<br />
approccio al doppiaggio?<br />
Sono contento che il mio <strong>la</strong>voro sia stato apprezzato, anche perchè<br />
l'impegno è stato totale, ma devo dire che trovo craig un ottimo attore,<br />
ha molte sfumature a volte anche impercettibili, ma determ<strong>in</strong>anti<br />
al<strong>la</strong> riuscita del personaggio: un attore non bravo è molto più difficile<br />
da doppiare, devo dire che lui mi aiuta molto. Non ho modificato <strong>in</strong><br />
modo partico<strong>la</strong>re il mio approcccio al doppiaggio, ma sono stato<br />
molto attento alle sue espressioni, cercando di cogliere ogni m<strong>in</strong>ima<br />
sfumatura, e soprattutto ho cercato di doppiarlo guardando più che <strong>la</strong><br />
bocca gli occhi, e questo mi ha aiutato molto.
