CONCLUSIONI:
Questa esposizione dimostra, in estrema sintesi, la obbiettiva difficoltà di
inquadramento definitivo delle lesioni teleangectasiche che sono il risultato
di una complessa ed estesa serie di collegamenti, interazioni e contatti di
una vasta rete venosa. Proprio questa complessità è alla base dei risultati
terapeutici non sempre brillanti; è evidente come una compressione accurata
e profonda della organizzazione morfo-funzionale delle teleangectasie sia
alla base di modalità di trattamento più efficaci.

OBJECTIVES: This paper aims to evaluate the efficacy of Nd:YAG laser
1064 nm treatment for lower extremity reticular veins.
METHODS: 50 female patients affected by lower limbs reticular veins,
aged between 25 and 65 years, were treated. We conducted a clinical
preventive screening to identify and evaluate possible bleeding disorders or
other cardiovascular pathologies, and Doppler examination of lower limbs to
exclude incontinent saphenous vein disorders. Five outpatient treatments were
performed every 30 days using Nd:YAG laser 1064 nm. In the first session of
treatment a 6 mm diameter spot was used with 140 J/cm 2 of energy and a pulse
duration of 40 msec; in the second and third sessions a 3 mm diameter spot was
used with 350 J/cm 2 of energy and a pulse duration of 30 msec; in the fourth and
fifth sessions a 1.5 mm diameter spot was used with 550 J/cm 2 of energy and a
pulse duration of 20 msec.
RESULTS:In 36 cases an 80% reduction in the extent of the venous network
compared to the initial state was observed after 3 treatment sessions, and in
32 cases a 90% reduction compared to the initial state was observed after 5
sessions.
CONCLUSIONS: The action of Nd:YAG laser 1064 nm has been particularly
effective in non-invasive treatment of reticular veins in the legs, allowing an
outpatient surgery technique that is well tolerated by patients. However, further
studies are needed to confirm the results.
