Non a caso dieci anni fa a Camogli ho celebrato
le mie seconde nozze: nella festosa sala comunale
gremita di parenti e amici, Carlo Rognoni
(tra l’altro, ex-direttore del Secolo XIX)
con fascia tricolore di traverso sul petto ha celebrato
da par suo - con un discorsetto affettuoso
e molto spiritoso - il mio matrimonio
con - la bella, intelligente, colta, simpatica,
spiritosa - Rosanna Massarenti in bianco con
strascico.
Poi, accompagnati dalla musica del trio Rhapsodija,
tra lacrime di commozione e pioggia beneaugurante
di riso Vialone, noi e tutti gli invitati
siamo saliti al Portofino Kulm, da dove si
gode della più spettacolare vista dell’intera Riviera
di Levante: di qua Portofino, Santa Margherita,
Rapallo giù giù fino a Sestri, di là San
Fruttuoso, Camogli, Recco, Bogliasco fino a Genova.
E al Kulm - dopo il pranzo nuziale con
tanto di prestigiatore che si aggirava tra i tavoli
(il fantastico Eddy) e dopo l’indimenticabile ed
esilarante discorso del Cavalier S. B. ad opera di
Nando Dalla Chiesa (gran imitatore) al momento
del taglio della torta - nel campo da tennis
allestito alla bisogna si sono aperte le danze fino
a notte fonda con la magica musica di Vladimir
Denissenkov.
E poi…Che notte, quella notte!

to the life in this sea town, turning Camogli into a little
Athens or a young Capalbio.
This why I chose Camogli to celebrate my second
wedding: in the festive Town Hall brimming with
relatives and friends, Carlo Rognoni (who among other
things has been the editor of Genoa’s national
newspaper, Il Secolo XIX) with the mayor’s sash in the
Italian flag colors across his chest, and who celebrated
– with a speech that was both affectionate and witty –
my marriage with the “beautiful, intelligent, cultured,
nice, and witty” Rosanna Massarenti, who wore white
with a long train. Then after, accompanied by the
music of the Rhapsodija Trio, between tears of
emotion and a well-wishing rain of Vialone rice, our
guests and we went up to the hotel on the summit of
Portofino Mountain, Portofino Kulm, with its
spectacular view of the whole Riviera of the Rising
Sun: Portofino, Santa Margherita, Rapallo down down
down to Sestri, over there to San Fruttuoso, Camogli,
Recco, Bogliasco, up till Genoa. And at the Kulm -
after the wedding dinner with a magician travelling
from table to table (the Fantastico Eddy) and after the
unforgettable and exhilarating speech by Cavalier S. B.
a work by Nando Dalla Chiesa (the great imitator), at
the moment when we cut the cake, on the purposely
decorated tennis court the dancing was opened with
the magical music of Vladimir Denissenkov. “Che notte,
quella notte!” [What a night, that night!]
