Le spiagge più esclusive del ponente
ligure si trovano ai due estremi della
provincia di Imperia: la spiaggia delle
Uova e il Galeazzone
Beaches for rugged individualists are
found at both ends of the Province
of Imperia: the Beach of the Eggs,
Spiaggia delle Uova and Galeazzone.
Bisogna camminare un poco sotto i pini, per
immergersi in un imprevisto caleidoscopio di
colori: rocce rosse, scogli coperti di alghe, mare
blu e il verde intenso, della costa. Muovendosi
sui ciottoli così perfettamente levigati dal
mare, da sembrare uova.
Anche la Galeazza è ciottoli, scogli, tranquillità,
ma soprattutto ha un panorama unico visto
dal mare.
La spiaggia è dominata da una collina di macchia
mediterranea e pini di Aleppo, punteggiata
da qualche villa opulenta che non disturba,
ma lascia immaginare un passato non lontano
in cui una parte era coltivata a vigneto e le foche
monache saltellavano goffamente sulla riva
per divorare l’uva matura.
In mare si alza la Galeazza, cinque metri di scoglio
che pare una nave antica, da sempre tappa
del rituale di formazione dei ragazzi locali e
no: chi si tuffa dalla cima diventa automaticamente
adulto.
La Galeazza è in fondo alla passeggiata a mare
di Oneglia, i Binelli e il Galeazzone - più difficili
da raggiungere - sono le due spiagge successive.
Imperia. The Spiaggia delle Uova is on the French
border, just below the Balzi Rossi, the archeological
site where prehistoric man painted his pictures. Walk
under the umbrella pines, emerge yourself in a
kaleidoscope of colors – red cliffs, rocks covered in
blue-green seaweed, blue sea, and the intense green
of the coast - as you step on round pebbles that look
like eggs, perfectly smoothed by the waves of the sea.
At Galeazza Beach as well, you will find sea pebbles,
boulders, tranquility, and above all a unique vista on
the sea. A hill of Mediterranean pines and scrub
vegetation rises above the beach, dotted by the
occasional luxury villa which instead of disturbing
the landscape, reminds us that even in recent times
the hills here were cultivated with vineyards, and
Monk seals would climb awkwardly out of the water
to eat the ripe grapes. The beach is named for the
Galeazzo rock formation in its waters, 5 meters of
boulder shaped like an ancient ship. It is part of the
growing-up ritual on the coast: he who dives off the
rock into the waters becomes automatically labeled
an adult. Galeazza Beach lies at the end of the sea
promenade in Oneglia. The Binelli, twin beaches, and
Galeazzone – more difficult to reach - are the
beaches after.
