Un progetto di Costa Edutainment e Regione Liguria
sensibilizza al consumo ittico consapevole
A project by Costa Edutainment and
the Regione Liguria sensitizes consumers
to sustainable fish consumption
Si chiama “Pesce ritrovato” il
progetto di sensibilizzazione sul
consumo ittico consapevole
coordinato da Costa Edutainment e
supportato dalla Regione Liguria. Per
imparare a mangiare bene e nel
rispetto della natura
Come sollecitare i consumatori ad
ampliare le loro conoscenze sui pesci
e di stimolare un consumo informato
di varietà normalmente non
richieste, che posseggono tuttavia le
stesse proprietà nutrizionali e un
sapore affine a quelle più diffuse sul
mercato? Con Pesce ritrovato, il
progetto di sensibilizzazione sul
consumo ittico consapevole
finanziato dalla Commissione
Europea all’interno del programma
Life, supportato dalla Regione Liguria
e coordinato dalla struttura gestita
da Costa Edutainment. L’operazione
prevede il coinvolgimento di partner
quali Legambiente, Lega Pesca, Agci
Agrital, Coop Liguria e Softeco
Sismat.
Creando una rete che raggruppi tutti
gli operatori di settore, dal singolo
pescatore alle cooperative, dai
venditori al dettaglio alla grande
distribuzione, dai ristoratori alle
catene alberghiere, la missione
consiste nel riattivare un ciclo
virtuoso, che determini un aumento
della domanda e del costo di specie
ingiustamente trascurate come
tombarello, aguglia, boga, lampuga,
tonnetto, pesce lama, potassolo,
It’s called “Found Fish”, and it’s a
project to sensitize consumers
about the fish that they are eating.
Coordinated by Costa Edutainment
and supported by the Region of
Liguria, its goal is to teach people
how to eat well while respecting
nature. How do you go about
encouraging consumers to amplify
the range of their knowledge of fish,
and stimulate an informed
consumption of the species that are
not normally in request, even though
they are as tasty and nutritional as
those which are more commonly sold
on the market? Found Fish provides
an answer. The project is financed by
the European Commission as a part
of the Life program; it is supported
by the Regione Liguria and is
coordinated by institutions managed
by Costa Edutainment. This operation
to sensitize people to the intelligent
consumption of fish also partners
with environmental associations and
commercial distributors, such as
Legambiente, Lega Pesca, Agci
Agrital, Coop Liguria and Softeco
Sismat.
By creating a network that gathers
all the operators in the sector—from
the individual fisherman to the great
fish cooperatives, from the retail fish
seller to the great food distributors,
restaurants and hotel chains—its
mission is to instigate a virtuous
circle which increases the demand
and also the price of species that
cefalo, mostella di fondo, pesce serra,
palamita, sardina, sardinella, luccio di
mare, menola, alalunga (una varietà
di tonno), leccia stellata e sugarelli.
Linee guida del progetto sono
preservare la biodiversità marina,
riscoprire le specie ittiche locali e
ridurre gli scarti di pesca,
alleggerendo in tal modo la pressione
sugli riserve troppo sfruttate.
Il ruolo dell’Acquario di Genova,
gestito da Costa Edutainment,
consiste nell’informare il pubblico
alla conservazione, gestione e uso
sostenibile degli ambienti acquatici
per promuovere comportamenti
positivi e responsabili. In questo
spirito sono nate iniziative che
vogliono coinvolgere il grande
pubblico; dopo i laboratori didattici,
www.fishscale.eu potete trovare
tutte le informazioni utili a riguardo.
have been up to now unjustly
discarded, such as frigate tuna,
needlefish, bogue, dorado, skipjack,
knifefish, whiting, mullet, Pollock,
bluefish, bonito, sardines, Sardinella,
sea pike, picarel, albacore (a variety
of tuna), mackerel, and pompano.
The guiding themes of the project
are to preserve marine biodiversity,
to rediscover the range of local fish,
and to reduce the amount of fish
that is discarded, thereby lessening
the pressure on species that have
been over-exploited.
The role of the Aquarium of Genoa,
run by Costa Edutainment, is to
inform the public about
conservation, management, and
sustainable use of marine
environments to promote positive
and responsible behavior. With this in
mind, various initiatives have been
born to involve the greater public.
After the ,organizing weeks of
promotion and sales of some of the
species selected by the project in a
number of its supermarkets in
Genoa, Imperia, Savona, and La
Spezia until July 23. The
environmental league, Legambiente,
is carrying out the “Green Schooner”
campaign, which plans to dedicate
some of its stops along the Italian
coastline to the project.
