La vista spazia sulla tonnara, la chiesa di
Camogli e sul golfo di Genova. Data la protezione
degli scogli di Punta Chiappa, l’acqua è pulita,
soprattutto in mattinata.
Quanto all’hotel, immerso in parco verde e curato,
è uno dei più ricchi di storia d’Italia. Era il
1565 quando una famiglia aristocratica genovese
decise di edificare la propria villa qui per riposarsi
dalle fatiche cittadine. Cenobio significa
convivio e infatti non mancavano gli ospiti tra
cui alcuni alti prelati a cui non si poteva far
mancare una cappella, luminosa e stuccata, contenuta
tuttora all’interno dell’albergo e dove si
celebra messa.
Ecco la Liguria che sorprende sempre. Paesaggi
mutevoli, arte, natura selvatica, confort e ascetico
isolamento, sabbia e rocce puntute, macchia mediterranea
fino sul mare e borghi ricchi di tradizioni,
negozi per lo shopping più costoso e panifici
dove la focaccia è perfetta. Semplice no?
On its beach of rounded sea pebbles, below the
maritime pines of the Mountain of Portofino (and
the hotel restaurant, La Playa), the view takes in the
whole Gulf of Genoa, from the church of Camogli,
perched on the rocks, to the tuna fishery off the
coast beyond Punta Chiappa, a protected marine
area, where the waters are pristine.
The hotel itself, immersed in the greenery of its
park, is rich in history. Built in 1565, as a country
villa for an aristocratic Genoese family, the name
“Cenobio” means a place to live together. In fact, its
guests included those in the religious orders, hence
the chapel, filled with light and stuccos, where mass
is still celebrated.
And so, Liguria is always full of surprises. Its
landscape, art, nature, comforts and esthetic privacy;
boulders in the sand, rocks jutting out from the sea
pebbles, lush Mediterranean vegetation that descends
to the sea, and villages rich in traditions; boutiques
for expensive shopping and bread shops where the
focaccia is just perfect. Lovely, isn’t it?
