SIXTEEN US REPRESENTATIVES TO US SECRETARY
OF STATEJOHN KERRY TO URGE FOR MACEDONIA›S
ACCESSION TO NATO

the initiative to send a letter of 16 US Representatives
to the US Secretary of State John Kerry, asking him to advocate
for Ma cedonia›s accession to NATO, Mr. Gjorgia George Atanasoski,
Macedonian Alliance President, presented his position by a
press release as follows:
Macedonian Diaspora is not being silent; it is constantly lobbying and intensely fighting in
all fields to achieve the strategic interests of the Fatherland. The best proof of this is the latest
initiative of 16 US Congressmen asking from the US Secretary of State, John Kerry, to urge for
Macedonia›s accession to NATO.
Macedonian Alliance expresses its huge gratitude to Congressmen and Congresswomen Bill
Pascrell, Candice Miller, Madeleine Borello, Yvette Clarke, Kurt Klosson, Emanuel Cleaver, Gerald
Connolly, Paul Cook, Donna Edwards, Alcee Hastings, Eddie Bernice Johnson, Tom Marino,
Colin Peterson, Bobby Rush, Steve Stivers and Peter Visclosky, who are initiators of the rapid
accession of Macedonia to the greatest political and military alliance.
The fact that this initiative is supported by US Representatives of both Republican and Democratic
Parties, once again confirms that the United States is the largest, most important and
strongest strategic ally of our Fatherland. It is obvious that the special strategic and security
agreement, which was signed by Macedonia and the United States in 2009, is a huge benefit for
our future. This initiative is additional recognition of the significant reforms that Macedonia has
made to meet NATO standards, and gratitude for ARM›s active participation as a US partner in
the missions in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq.
Macedonian Alliance strongly believes that the rapid accession of Macedonia to NATO will allow
stabilization of the entire region, and for our country and people, it will be a plus factor to
continue the social course for promotion of democratic values and realization of the centuriesold
aspirations for a united and strong Fatherland.
Finally, we welcome the agreement reached by the leaders of political parties in Macedonia,
which stops the multi-month political crisis that negatively impacted and threatened to jeopardize
the EU prospects of the Fatherland. Macedonian Alliance expresses its gratitude to the international
community, led by the US and EU, which have made serious efforts to preserve the
strategic goals of the Macedonian people for full membership in NATO and the European Union.
