PROPERTIES AND APPEARANCE: Opaque needles or granular crystalline powder; odourless with cooling, bitter, salt taste. Slightly<br />

soluble in glycerin; slightly soluble in alcohol. Non-combustible; decomposes at 1124°C<br />

DENSITY AT 20°C (AND OTHER 2.65<br />

FOOD SAFETY ISSUES: Moderately toxic by ingestion, intraperitoneal, and subcutaneous routes; an experimental teratogen.<br />

Parenteral use or use in presence of renal insufficiency may lead to magnesium intoxication. Potentially<br />

explosive reaction when heated with ethoxyethynyl alcohols (e.g. 1-ethoxy-3-methyl-1-butyn-3-ol).<br />

When heated to decomposition, will emit toxic fumes of SOx
