E.01.005 – Commencing June 1, 1979, every cyclamate sweetener or saccharin sweetener shall be labelled to show<br />

(a) a list of all the ingredients and, in the case of<br />

(iii) a saccharin<br />

(iv) a saccharin salt<br />

the quantity thereof contained in the sweetener; and<br />

(b) the energy value of the sweetener expressed in calories<br />

(i) per teaspoonful, drop, tablet or other measure used in the directions for use, and<br />

(ii) per 100 grams or 100 millilitres<br />

of the sweetener<br />

AUSTRALIA/PACIFIC RIM:<br />

Regulatory Status: ADI level as of 1990 for use in soft drinks<br />

–Australia 50 mg/l<br />

– Japan 300 mg/l<br />

–New Zealand 100 mg/l<br />

OTHER COUNTRIES:<br />

Has been assigned an ADI of 2.5 mg/kg body weight.<br />

Used in more than 80 countries.<br />

Permitted for use in approximately 75 countries.<br />
