<strong>import</strong>ant <strong>cultural</strong> ambassador for Sweden <strong>and</strong> gives foreign audiences a taste <strong>of</strong> Swedish culture at its best.<br />

Who is responsible for implementing <strong>the</strong>se regulations?<br />

The National Heritage Board (Riksantikvarieämbetet) has overall responsibility for implementing<br />

There are five different authorities in Sweden that make <strong>the</strong> actual decisions on <strong>export</strong><br />

permits: <strong>the</strong> National Heritage Board, <strong>the</strong> Nordiska Museet, <strong>the</strong> National Library <strong>of</strong> Sweden,<br />

<strong>the</strong> National Museum with Prince Eugens Waldemarsudde <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> National Archives<br />

Do I need an <strong>export</strong> licence?<br />

Older Swedish <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>goods</strong> <strong>and</strong> foreign <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>goods</strong> that may be <strong>of</strong> major <strong>import</strong>ance<br />

<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> national <strong>cultural</strong> heritage may not be taken out <strong>of</strong> Sweden without special<br />

permission.<br />

The term, ‘Swedish <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>goods</strong>’ refers <strong>to</strong> objects that were actually or presumably<br />

made in Sweden or in some o<strong>the</strong>r country by a Swede. The term, ‘foreign <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>goods</strong>’<br />

refers <strong>to</strong> objects made in ano<strong>the</strong>r country by someone o<strong>the</strong>r than a Swede.<br />

For <strong>the</strong> purposes <strong>of</strong> determination under national legislation, <strong>the</strong> boundaries <strong>of</strong> Sweden on<br />

1 July 1986 decide whe<strong>the</strong>r an object is deemed <strong>to</strong> be Swedish <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>goods</strong>.<br />
