public or on-site personnel<br />

Immediate Response Actions<br />

Threat Category I, II and III facilities<br />

Operator and on-site:<br />

- Take life saving actions and give first aid on site.<br />

- Notify off-site officials.<br />

- Activate the appropriate part of the response, using the incident command system under an incident commander,<br />

needed to analyse and resolve the condition resulting in the alert or reduce the potential threat.<br />

- Conduct off-site monitoring near facility (if appropriate).<br />

- Implement actions to mitigate the event and provide technical assistance to control room or operational staff (if<br />

required).<br />

- With off-site officials, initiate joint media briefings at a PIC if the alert receives media or public attention.<br />

Off site:<br />

- Increase readiness.<br />

- Implement the minimum components of the ICS, including appointing an incident commander.<br />

- Ensure that all governmental agencies are informed.<br />

- Provide fire, police or medical support if requested.<br />

- With on-site officials, initiate joint media briefings at the PIC if the alert receives media or public attention.<br />
