FI SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS 4-25USE OF SDS DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES* Do not disconnect couplers from ECM, the battery cable fromthe battery, ECM ground wire harness from the engine or mainfuse before confirming the malfunction code (self-diagnostictrouble code) stored in memory. Such disconnection will erasethe memorized information in ECM memory.* Malfunction code stored in ECM memory can be checked bythe SDS.* Be sure to read “PRECAUTIONS IN SERVICING” (4-3)before inspection and observe what is written there.• Remove the left frame cover. (8-4)• Set up the SDS tool. (Refer to the SDS operation manual forfurther details.)• Read the DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) and show datawhen trouble (displaying data at the time of DTC) according toinstructions displayed on SDS.• SDS is used not only for detecting Diagnostic Trouble Codesbut also for reproducing and checking on screen the failurecondition as described by customers using the trigger.• How to use trigger.
