2-4 PERIODIC MAINTENANCEMAINTENANCE AND TUNE-UPPROCEDURESThis section describes the servicing procedures for each item ofthe Periodic Maintenance requirements.AIR CLEANERInspect every 6 000 km (12 months).Replace every 18 000 km (36 months).• Lift and support the fuel tank. (5-3)• Remove the air cleaner box cover 1 by removing the screwsand IAP sensor.• Remove the air cleaner element.• Inspect the air cleaner element for clogging.If the air cleaner element is clogged with dust, replace the aircleaner element with a new one.Do not blow the air cleaner element with compressedair.NOTE:If driving under dusty conditions, replace the air cleaner elementmore frequently. Make sure that the air cleaner is in good conditionat all times. The life of the engine depends largely on thiscomponent.• Install a new air cleaner element in the reverse order ofremoval.• Remove the drain plug 2 from the air cleaner box to allowany water to drain out.
